Hey you! Welcome back to my blog. After some time away, it feels good to be back and blogging. I hope you enjoy today’s post and that it brings you joy or inspires you in some way. This past week, my husband and I went to New York. It’s literally my favorite place to travel and it was so much fun to get to enjoy it for the first time with my husband. Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite things that we did. I’ll tag websites that we purchased any tickets from and of course include restaurants we went to and the hotel we stayed at!

This trip was our big vacation of the summer that we had planned, so we celebrated and splurged a little on a great hotel. We stayed at the Arlo NoMad Hotel. It’s a great location to stay at being walking distance from Times Square and the Empire State Building and so many great restaurants. BUT the selling point for us was the view. As you can see, there are windows that surround the room with a full sky view of the city. It was beautiful and made me so excited to wake up every morning. The rooms are pretty small, but given the fact that we spent majority of the day out and about, it was worth the sacrifice for the view. They also have a rooftop bar that has a view of the Empire. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Since I’ve been to New York a few times and it was Tre’s first time, I wanted to try sightseeing in a new way. The first night we got there, I booked us a sunset cruise that took us by a lot of the major landmarks. We were able to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, the One World Trade Center, Empire State Building, and so much more. Plus we got an amazing view of the city at night. It was a great way to see all of these sights without having to get too touristy. We took this tour, but there are several others that offer dinner or even music while you tour that looked fun too!

As far as food, we ate at many great places this trip, but here are a few of my favorites. My favorite breakfast spot was definitely Sarabeth’s. The food is great and it’s a cute spot to start your day in the city. For lunch we traveled to Times Square and enjoyed some good NY style pizza at my FAVORITE spot, John’s Pizzeria! It was temporarily closed due to COVID, but thankfully opened up the day we got to New York. Favorite thing about this place (besides the food obvs) is the architecture, it used to be an old church and still has the same glass stained ceiling! Best part of the day in NY is definitely dinner time. And one of my favorite places to get dressed up and go out to eat in the city is definitely Catch NYC. This restaurant is so cute and the food is incredible. We love their sushi and their infamous “hit me” cake. Last, but not least is my favorite late night spot for pizza, Little Italy Pizza. The location we went to is right outside the Empire State Building which is a great location after a late tour of the Empire. Our last night in NY we grabbed pizza here and then walked back to our hotel for a drink on the rooftop bar.

Of course we spent some of our time shopping in SoHo and 5th avenue. My favorite shops that are a must to go to in NY are Aritzia and & Other Stories. They are so cute and both have 2 levels of one of a kind shopping. We spent time walking around Washington Square Park and Central Park. Here’s a coffee shop near Washington Square Park that is so good and has so many board games to play! My favorite part of the trip was just sitting in both of those parks on a bench and reflecting on our time in NY together. This was one of my favorite trips to NY by far just because I got to share it with Tre. Highly recommend going to NY with people you love. I hope you enjoyed this post, comment below your favorite NY spots! Until next time, I hope you have a beautiful day!
Always with Love,
Dakota
