Hey you, welcome back to my page! As always, I hope that what I have written for you inspires or encourages you in some way! Let’s jump right in. It’s a new year, 2021, with 365 days of brand new opportunities to improve ourselves and our lives. Typically, this is the time where I’d write a list for myself about all the resolutions I want to make and the things that I want to accomplish. And then towards the end of January or February I’d slack off or come up short of my goals and forget about them completely, it happens every year and I’m pretty sure some of you can relate. Luckily, my pastor gave me a new idea to try!
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of the one word challenge. If you haven’t, I’ll explain. Instead of coming up with a list of things you want to accomplish or change this year, you come up with one word to help guide you for the year. My pastor challenged us to read a 4-day Bible plan about this one word challenge and really seek God to reveal to us one word that God wants us to focus on for the year.
After a lot of prayer and reading the Bible study, God revealed to me that my word for the year is SEEK. Once you discover your word, the study also encourages you to find a Bible verse to encourage you with following your word for the year. The verse that I found to help with my encouragement was: “The one thing I ask of the Lord- the thing I SEEK the most- is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His temple.” (Psalms 27:4).
2020 was a scary year for all of us. I had the choice to put my faith in God or allow fear to overcome me. While the year started off with me putting my faith in God and staying close to Him through daily devotionals, prayer, and worship; I have to be honest that it wavered towards the end of the year. I ended the year by wanting one thing, just to be closer with God and to hear His voice clearly in my life. God heard me when earnestly praying for a word from Him. I believe that this year, He is calling me to be closer with Him too. I want that verse to run true in my life, to live in the house of the Lord, to delight in Him and to meditate with Him all the days of my life. This year I plan on letting this word guide my life and spend my time seeking the Lord in all aspects of my life. I plan to SEEK His presence, His guidance, and His purpose for my life.
So far my focus and dedication to my word has gone well, I’ll keep you updated with what God reveals to me throughout the year. If you are curious or maybe want to try something different to lead your year, check out the Bible plan that I have linked for you. I pray that God reveals a word to you that will change your life, not just your year.
That’s all I have for today, I hope you enjoyed my post! Have a beautiful day!
Always with Love,
Dakota
