Hey you, welcome back to my blog! I don’t know what led you here today, but I’m grateful for your life today and I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s be real. Life can get tough. Emotions can be tough and sometimes even feel uncontrollable. Some days I’ll wake up and be fine and start my day just right, and then BAM this wave of emotion will just come over me out of nowhere. The enemy comes in with a full-blown attack on my beautiful day and tries to bring me down. With all of this free time, thanks to the virus, I’ve had more time to study the word and work on my prayer life. The Lord has put on my heart the importance of studying and truly learning His word to use as a weapon against the enemy. When I start feeling down, I put on some worship music and read over these verses and fight the bad mood with Truth! Instead of just sharing the verses, I decided to be a little vulnerable with you guys and share thoughts that the enemy tries to bring me down with, and what Truth God has to speak over those feelings, emotions, and thoughts. I wanted to share these verses with you in hopes that whatever season you’re in, it can help you too.
The enemy tells you: Who are you to think you can change the world? You don’t have a purpose here on this earth.
God tells you: I made you in my own image. I created you and you are good. (Genesis 1:27-31)
The enemy tells you: Fear change, fear what might come. I’m gonna rob you of your rest so that you can worry about what could happen.
God tells you: Don’t be afraid, I am God. I am YOUR God. I’ve got you. (Isaiah 41:10)
The enemy tells you: You are worthless. You’ve made so many mistakes, there’s no way that God can make any good of you.
God tells you: YOU are my masterpiece. I made you anew in Jesus. Long ago I planned for you to do many good things. (Ephesians 2:10)
The enemy tells you: If God only knew the things that you thought or did behind closed doors, He wouldn’t possibly love you.
God tells you: I formed you in your mother’s womb. I knew you before you were even born. I know your deepest and darkest thoughts and I still love you. There is nowhere you can go to flee from my presence. (Psalm 139)
The enemy tells you: What if things don’t work out? What if this path you’re taking is going to cause you hurt? You could fail and be a disappointment to your family or loved ones.
God tells you: I have plans for you. Good plans that won’t harm you, but that will bring you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
The enemy tells you: You don’t have enough faith to get through this. Your faith won’t save you now.
God tells you: If you just have faith the size of a tiny mustard seed, you can move mountains. (Luke 17:6)
I know that so many of these verses are the cliché Christian verses that we all quote or recite to someone in times of trouble. But I know just how important these verses are when the enemy is trying to speak lies over your life.
I am currently reading a 40-day devotional by Cory Asbury who sings Reckless Love. At the end of each day’s devotion, he includes discussion questions and sometimes a challenge. During my reading yesterday, he quoted this verse: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1). His challenge was for us to put our name in this verse and to recite it over ourselves each day and see how it changes our perspective of God and His love for us. I challenge you to do the same thing with each of these verses. Place your name in the verses because God wrote them for you. Whatever season you’re in, the Bible directly applies to your life and is meant to be a guide to help you through it.
Lastly, I have found it helpful to also post encouraging verses like these around my home. It encourages me and hopefully anyone else who reads them. That way when I’m looking in the mirror, or getting ready, the enemy has no room in my thoughts. I hope this was helpful in some way to you. I am praying for all who are currently struggling in any way today. God is with you and He is holding you throughout all of the pain. You WILL get through this. Today might be hard but have hope because God is in control and He has got your back. Comment below any other encouraging verses or even any ways I can be praying for you, and remember you’ve got this! God bless you and thank you for reading today!
Always with Love,
